Indiana University freshman forward Maya Makalusky received Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Makalusky averaged 17 points and 4.5 rebounds in two Hoosiers wins last week, while shooting 47.4 percent from the field.
She scored 19 points on the road against Rutgers, knocking down four three-pointers. It was her sixth time knocking down at least four three-pointers this season. In the regular season finale against Penn State, Makalusky scored 15 points and hauled in five rebounds.
Makalusky becomes the sixth player in school history to have at least two Big Ten Freshman of the Week awards.
Makalusky played all 30 games in the regular season, starting 20 of them. She averaged 9.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in the regular season, shooting 44.7 percent from the floor and 37.4 percent from three.
IU (17-13, 6-12 in the Big Ten) closed its regular season by winning six of its last eight games. Makalusky stepped up her game in that stretch, scoring 14.5 points per game.
Makalusky is an Hamilton Southeastern graduate and was Indiana Miss Basketball in 2025.
Makalusky and the 13th-seeded Hoosiers play in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament against Nebraska on Wednesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
