University took care of business in its regular-season finale, running away from Indiana Math & Science Academy 82-49 Thursday at the U Center.
The first quarter was tight before the Trailblazers went on a run at the end of the period to lead 22-14. Joshua McGee scored eight points, while Noah Cortez and Faisal Mohamud both made a 3-pointer.
University’s offense kicked into overdrive in the second period, as the Blazers put up 26 points for a 48-28 halftime lead. Jaxen Bennett nailed two 3s while scoring 10 points in that quarter. Mohamud added another seven points.
The Trailblazers found another gear in the third quarter, pouring in 28 points. University’s lead of 68-32 with three minutes left instituted a running clock, and the Blazers finished the period with a 76-36 advantage. Mohamud scored 11 points, including three 3s for a total of five triples in the game.
Mohamud was one of four double-digit scorers, leading the way with 23 points. McGee scored 16 points, with Bennett and DJ Willis both scoring 10 points.
Noah Cortez handed out eight assists, while Blake Gray dished out seven assists and scored six points. Cooper Cammack led the rebounds with 11.
University is 15-8 and plays Monrovia Tuesday in the first round of the Cardinal Ritter sectional.
