The Hamilton Heights boys basketball team took a mid-week trip to the north side of downtown Indianapolis on Wednesday. KIPP Indy Legacy is in just its sixth season as a program and second year of being eligible for the state tournament.
The Huskies escaped downtown Indianapolis with a grinding 60-49 win over the host Pride.
The Pride got up on Heights 13-10 through one quarter.
Heights fought back in the second to tie the game 26-26 at halftime.
The third was another tight period, fending off KIPP 17-14 for a 43-40 advantage.
The Huskies got some breathing room in the fourth to finish off the Pride, outscoring the home team 17-9 to come away with the 11-point win.
The victory is the ninth consecutive for Heights and brings their overall record to 9-7. Hamilton Heights hosts the Winchester Falcons (9-8) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
The Huskies were led by three in double figures. Rees Knapp led the way with 15 points and four rebounds, Jackson Mikesell had 13 with eight boards and Jack Kakasuleff chipped in with 12 and four assists. Caleb Sullivan also scored eight and had five rebounds.
