Noblesville gymnast Hailey Nobbe broke a quarter-century old record on Saturday, Jan. 31.
Nobbe put together an outstanding balance beam routine for the Millers when they competed at the Plymouth Invitational. The junior scored 9.60 on the event, easily breaking the old record of 9.35, which was set in 2001.
Nobbe and fellow junior Valorey Bittles led Noblesville to a fourth-place finish at Plymouth with a team score of 103.00.
Bittles finished second in the all-around, scoring 35.70. She was the runner-up in the vault event (9.35) and took sixth on the uneven bars (8.30), in addition to scoring 9.20 on beam and 8.85 in the floor exercise.
Nobbe was a close third in the all-around, totaling 35.50. She finished third on the beam and fourth on the bars (8.70), also earning scores of 8.65 on floor and 8.60 on the vault.
Vera Deichman and Emmerson Leckrone both scored 30.60 for their all-arounds. Leckrone scored 8.45 on vault, 8.05 on beam, 7.65 on floor and 6.45 on bars. Deichman’s scores were 8.00 on vault, 7.90 on floor, 7.35 on bars and 7.35 on beam.
Home victory
The Millers returned home to Hollywood Cheer and Tumble on Tuesday to compete in a three-team meet with Edgewood and New Palestine.
Noblesville won the meet with a score of 101.125. All four of their gymnasts finished in the top six in the all-around, with Bittles the winner by scoring 36.025.
Bittles won three individual events. She totaled 9.325 on floor, 9.025 on vault and 9.00 on bars.
Nobbe took third in the all-around, placing second on bars and floor and third on vault.
Deichman placed fifth in the all-around, with a sixth-place finish on beam. Leckrone was sixth in the all-around, taking third on floor and fifth on vault.
Shelby Sacerich won the junior varsity with an all-around score of 22.325.
