The Hamilton Southeastern Royals bounced back with a home victory against Pendleton Heights, 76-72, on Saturday, Jan. 31.
The Class 4A Royals used a strong 27-point third quarter to break a 35-35 halftime deadlock and led 62-48 entering the final eight minutes.
The visiting Arabians attempted to rally with a 24-point fourth quarter, but HSE held on to win and snapped their three-game losing streak.
HSE improved its season record to 8-9.
Sophomore Varschon Clark paced the Royals with a game-high 21 points with four rebounds and seven assists. Clark shot 2-for-4 from 3-point range.
Overall, HSE converted 11 of 24 shots from beyond the arc.
Senior Luke Weemer had 17 points on a 6-for-9 shooting night, including 3-for-4 from 3-point. He also posted a team-best nine rebounds.
Senior Landon Osswald finished with 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting. He went a perfect 2-for-2 in 3-point attempts.
Senior Maverick Young had eight points and two 3-pointers with three rebounds. Freshman KJ Buckley chipped in seven points. Senior Kian Kelly added six points.
The Royals head to HCC foe Franklin Central on Thursday where they look to improve on their 2-3 conference record.
