The Hamilton Heights girls basketball team had high hopes heading into postseason play.
Unfortunately, the Huskies met their match in the first round of Class 3A Sectional 24 at Yorktown. Heights’ season came to an end on Tuesday night, falling to Connersville, 50-30.
The Spartans were in control from the tipoff, leading 11-3 after one quarter.
The Huskies came alive in the second, but still trailed 23-13 at halftime.
Connersville outscored Heights 27-17 in the final two quarters to win by 20.
Leading scorer Riley Suarez led with 18 points on 9-for-18 shooting and three rebounds. Kamryn Rhoton had seven points, seven boards and four assists. Zoey Curry also added five points.
The big plus for the Huskies is that they have no seniors, returning their whole roster for 2026-27.
Hamilton Heights finishes its season with a 14-7 record.
