The Fishers girls basketball team put up a fight at Franklin Central on Friday, Jan. 30, but their second-half comeback fell just short, 43-40.
Down 19-11 after the first half, the Class 4A Tigers clawed back behind a 13-point third quarter and tied the host Flashes, 24-24, before contending through a back-and-forth final eight minutes.
Unfortunately, the Tigers couldn’t match Hoosier Crossroads Conference foe Franklin Central in the fourth quarter, 19-16, and narrowly lost to conclude their regular-season schedule.
Fishers finished the year with an 11-10 overall record and 1-6 in the HCC. The Tigers faced HCC rival Zionsville in the opening round of Sectional 8 at Carmel on Tuesday, Feb. 3.
Fishers lost to Zionsville, 50-30, during their regular-season meeting on Nov. 25.
Sophomore Reagan Reiff led the Tigers with 13 points against Franklin Central, pouring in nine points in the second half. Senior Makayla Triplett had nine points with all of them coming in the final 16 minutes. Sophomore Ella Burleson added six points followed by senior Natalie Thomas with four.
