The Class 4A Hamilton Southeastern Royals had reasons to celebrate on Friday, Jan. 23.
Up 27-25 against visiting Zionsville at halftime, the seventh-ranked Royals surged further ahead in the second half, highlighted by a 12-point fourth quarter, to win 52-41.
HSE’s third straight victory not only extended its winning streak but secured a fourth consecutive Hoosier Crossroads Conference championship and coach Brian Satterfield’s 100th win as the program’s head coach.
Kennedy Holman scored 21 points and pulled seven rebounds, while Kayla Stidham scored 12 points. Satterfield held a 100-19 record through five seasons as HSE’s girls coach entering Saturday, Jan. 24.
Unfortunately, the Royals (17-4, 7-0 HCC) were unable to add another victory to complete their back-to-back weekend, falling to state-ranked Center Grove, 65-43 at home.
Holman scored 13 points and Stidham scored 11.
HSE concludes its regular season at home against Pike on Tuesday.
