On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Rensselaer Central and Hamilton Heights girls basketball teams got together for an East vs. West showdown in the Hoosier Conference and they didn’t disappoint.
The visiting Bombers escaped Arcadia with a 62-60 win to claim the Hoosier Conference championship.
The Huskies got off to a great start, leading Rensselaer Central 17-12 through one quarter.
The Bombers came back in the second and Heights led 27-26 at halftime.
The second half was quite the battle between the two division leaders. But it would be the Bombers outscoring the Huskies 36-33 for the two-point road win.
The Huskies shot 50 percent from the floor and were led by Zoey Curry’s 18 points. She was joined in double digits by Riley Suarez with 14, along with Addison Blum and Kamryn Rhoton both netting 11.
Hamilton Heights (14-8) hosts Heritage Christian (13-8) on Tuesday, weather permitting.
