The Friday, Jan. 23 girls-boys doubleheader in the Circle City Conference between Guerin Catholic and Brebeuf Jesuit was just like it always is, a tough battle to the finish.
It would take overtime, but Brebeuf was able to defend their home court against Guerin, 37-34.
The Braves led just 8-5 after one and stretched it a little in the second for a 20-15 halftime score.
The Golden Eagles outscored Brebeuf in the second half, 18-13, to tie it 33-33 and force the extra frame.
Points were hard to come by in the overtime. But Brebeuf Jesuit managed a field goal and pair of free throws and held Guerin to one made free throw to hold on.
Cecilia Titus led the Golden Eagles with 11, followed by Caroline Ford with eight. Lorigrace Rockwood and Ella Horvath each added six.
Guerin Catholic (14-8) closes out the regular season at home Wednesday against Crispus Attucks (9-9).
