The Hamilton Heights boys wrestling team finished fourth at the Hoosier Conference meet, which took place Saturday, Jan. 17 at Western.
Rensselaer Central won the meet with 260 points. Benton Central finished second with 205.5 points, followed closely by West Lafayette’s 202.5 points and the Huskies’ 201.5 points.
Heights had one champion at the meet. Simon Kuhn won the 150-pound division with three easy victories. After a first-round bye, the senior won his quarterfinal match with a first-period fall, then got a technical fall in the semifinals. Kuhn beat Western’s Jacob Scott by an 11-0 major decision in the championship match, improving his record to a perfect 30-0.
Kuhn was the first of 11 place winners for Heights. Kase Powell was the runner-up at 132 pounds, while Asher Barrick was second at 144 and Braxtyn Baber was the runner-up at 165. Two more Huskies got third-place finishes: Kolter Galloway at 126 and Nathan Flanders at 157.
Four Heights wrestlers took fourth: Ezekiel Rice (106), Jonah Wolfgang (120), Braden Rutledge (138) and Thiago Zuniga (215). Hans Frymier finished fifth at 190.
