The Carmel boys basketball team dropped its first game of the season Friday, Jan. 16, falling to Plainfield 50-47 on Bill Shepherd Court at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
The game was tied 18-18 after one quarter before the Quakers surged ahead 29-21 by halftime. Plainfield led 41-32 after three periods; the Greyhounds came back with 15 points in the fourth by the Quakers held on to win.
Julian Vogt hit four 3-pointers for 12 points. Evan Harrell had nine points, nine rebounds and four assists, with Ben Bremer also scoring nine points.
Carmel came back to win at Columbus North 59-52 in a Saturday, Jan. 17 overtime game. The contest was tied 27-27 at halftime and 50-50 at the end of regulation. The Hounds outscored the Bull Dogs 9-2 in the overtime period.
Harrell led the way with 17 points and nine rebounds. Vogt and Bremer both scored 11 points and Cash Daniels had 10 points. Vogt and Daniels both dished out four assists.
Carmel is 10-1 and hosts Pike on Friday.
