Christopher Barrows, Hamilton County Court Commissioner since 2022, filed Friday, Jan. 9 to run in the May Republican Primary for judge of Hamilton County Superior Court 9.
“With 27 years in the courtroom and the last four on the bench, the best place I can continue to serve Hamilton County is as Judge of Superior Court 9,” Barrows said. “My long experience, lifetime community service, and integrity to apply the law as written makes me the most qualified candidate for Superior Court 9.”
Court Commissioner Barrows has served in the Hamilton County Judiciary since 2022, when he was appointed by the Hamilton County Judges. In this role, he presides over the court’s Title IV-D court. The court manages a high-volume docket, with three full-time prosecutors, private counsel, public defenders and pro se participants. Court Commissioner Barrows also serves as a judge pro tem handling criminal, civil, and family law matters.
A lifetime resident of Hamilton County, Court Commissioner Barrows chose to raise his family and grow his law practice here. He serves on the boards of the Westfield Youth Assistance Program, the Westfield Education Foundation, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Indiana Chapter. He has coached Hamilton County youth sports including soccer, cross country, track and field, karate and wrestling.
Barrows has been a small business owner, litigator, mediator and arbitrator for over 27 years. Prior to his current position, he served as a Hamilton County guardian ad litem for over two decades. During his entire career, he has taught hundreds of hours of legal education to lawyers across Indiana.
“It is a privilege to serve on the Hamilton County Judiciary and to resolve conflicts between parties, while helping to ensure our laws are enforced equally and with civility,” Barrows said.
