Hamilton Southeastern’s girls split a pair of games last weekend.
On Friday, Jan. 2, the Royals hosted Carmel and won 46-36. Southeastern jumped out to a 15-7 lead after the first quarter. Antonette Green scored eight points, including two 3-pointers.
The Royals led 24-13 at halftime and 35-23 after three periods. Haylee Mezera scored five points in the third quarter. The Greyhounds’ Catherine Bassi, back in the lineup after an injury kept her out for most of her sophomore year, provided a lift for Carmel in the fourth quarter by scoring 10 points.
Green finished the game with 12 points, while Piper Brinley scored 11. Kennedy Holman did not play; she was still recovering from an injury earlier in the week but has been cleared to play.
Maddy Wallace led Carmel with 13 points, while Bassi scored 12.
Southeastern lost an away game at Plainfield on Saturday, Jan. 3, by the score of 50-44. Brinley and Mezera both scored 14 points, with Brinley and Kayla Stidham each collecting seven rebounds.
The Royals are 14-3 and play Saturday afternoon at Fort Wayne Carroll. The Greyhounds are 7-7 and host Center Grove on Thursday.
