The Sheridan boys finished 1-1 at their own Holiday Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 27.
The Blackhawks opened with a 63-51 win over Lewis Cass in the first round. The Kings led 16-15 after the first quarter, but Sheridan outscored them in the other three.
Trey Page kept the Hawks in the game during the first period with three 3-pointers, then kept going in the second period with 12 more points. Page was part of a 22-point second quarter that moved Sheridan in front 37-33. Jax Peerman added six points, giving him 10 for the first half.
Devon Hamilton stepped up in the third quarter, scoring eight points to help the Blackhawks extend their lead to 51-43. Sheridan finished the game with 12 points in the fourth.
Page totaled 25 points, including four 3s. Hamilton was next with 13 points, while Peerman scored 12.
Sheridan fell in the championship game to Liberty Christian, 65-57. It was the Blackhawks’ first loss of the year.
Sheridan led 14-12 after the first quarter, with Hamilton scoring five points. The Lions took over in the second period, pouring in 18 points for a 30-20 lead, then moved ahead 46-32 after three periods.
The Hawks made a comeback in the fourth quarter, pouring in 25 points, but Liberty Christian was able to hold them off. Peerman scored 12 points in the fourth, with Desh Donathan adding nine points in that quarter.
Donathan and Hamilton both scored 15 points. Peerman scored 14, all in the second half.
Sheridan is 6-1 and is off until Jan. 9 when it plays at Hoosier Heartland Conference game at Tri-Central.
