Veteran-led organization receives overwhelming support from members
The Fishers Century Club held its quarterly meeting on Tuesday evening, Dec. 9 at The Club Coworking, 9800 Crosspoint Blvd., Suite 200, Fishers, where a strong turnout gathered to continue the club’s mission of supporting meaningful nonprofit organizations.
The meeting featured presentations from three charities, as well as an update from September’s winning organization, Rock Steady Boxing, on how it used its awarded funds. The organization reported that the contribution was directed toward scholarship support for individuals who rely on Rock Steady’s non-contact, boxing-based fitness program but lack the financial means to participate.
Attendees then heard from three new charity presenters. Club newcomer Marcus Zimmerman shared the mission of The Progress House, one of Indiana’s longest-standing recovery residential programs. Returning club member Klynt Brummett spoke on behalf of Josiah White’s, highlighting the organization’s work with youth and families.
The winning presentation of the evening was delivered by new club member, Marine veteran and Purple Heart recipient Justin McDonald, who presented on an organization personally meaningful to him: the Warriors in Nature Project. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit’s mission is “To help veterans get outdoors and unplugged from the chaos of life after service.” Members voted overwhelmingly to award the collective support to Warriors in Nature Project.
“The Warriors in Nature Project gives veterans an opportunity to reconnect with nature, with each other, and with themselves,” McDonald said. “So many of us veterans struggle in silence after service. This organization creates space for healing, camaraderie, and purpose in some of the most peaceful outdoor settings imaginable. I’m deeply grateful the club chose to support this mission.”
With contributions still coming in from members who were unable to attend in person, the collective support has already exceeded $3,000, with additional donations expected.
“Our members were truly moved by what the Warriors in Nature Project does, and excited to support it,” Club Founder Adam Kallick said. “The passion behind Justin’s presentation and the mission of helping veterans decompress, reconnect, and find peace resonated with everyone in the room.”
With this latest award, the Fishers Century Club is now approaching $70,000 in total giving across its 19-meeting history, a milestone that reflects the power of community-driven philanthropy.
The Club meets quarterly, hears from up to three charities pitched by attendees, and votes to select a winning organization to receive direct financial support that same evening. The next Fishers Century Club meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2026. New members are always welcome to attend and bring others along.
