Sheridan was filled with holiday spirit Saturday night, Dec. 6 at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The town gathered on Main Street as a celebration was held that brought together families, students, volunteers, and local leaders to kick off the festive season.
The event was brought together by Sheridan Main Street, Inc. They highlighted the town’s mission of preserving and revitalizing Sheridan’s history, which is proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Christmas Committee chairs Heidi Kienholz and Julia Neff were the emcees and guided the evening with jolly spirit and warm enthusiasm.
The Christmas tree stands tall in front of the beautifully lit Carnegie Library, which is now home to United Animal Health. As the lights came on, the crowd cheered and welcomed in the holiday season.
“There’s something about our Annual Christmas Tree Lighting that feels magical! I think it’s a perfect way to welcome the Christmas season,” Heidi Kienholz said. “We can’t thank our community enough; the event wouldn’t have been a success without them.”
Also at the ceremony, Libby Doublestein and Patrick Cronin, Sheridan Community Schools choir and band directors, led performances that brought the spirit to life. Middle school students also joined in as they provided the event with a great soundtrack.
This year debuted the new illuminated snowflakes which are mounted on the lamp posts throughout downtown Sheridan. These additions were made possible by the generous support of the 15 sponsors. Sheridan Main Street, Inc. decorates for the season annually, and these new snowflakes offer a beautiful addition.
Sheridan Main Street, Inc. relies on the generosity of community members to make each year more memorable than the last. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be delivered to Keever’s Hardware or mailed to the address below.
