Sharing can lead to winning for a basketball team, and Hamilton Southeastern’s boys proved that this past weekend.
The Royals played their Hoosier Crossroads Conference opener at Avon Friday, Dec. 5 and won 66-60. Southeastern returned home the next night, Saturday, Dec. 6, to welcome Marion and were victorious in that game as well, 80-67.
In both games, the Royals shared the ball very well. Southeastern totaled 20 assists during its game with the Orioles, then compiled 24 assists during their contest with the Giants.
The Royals trailed Avon 34-33 at halftime, but slowly pulled away in the second half. Landon Osswald poured in 24 points, followed by Varschon Clark with 13 and Luke Weemer with 12.
Clark and Osswald both collected seven rebounds. Jack Jacobs dished out seven assists, while Maverick Young made six assists.
Southeastern put together a solid start against Marion, leading 19-11 after the opening quarter. The Royals led 38-31 at halftime, then poured in 23 points in the third period to clinch the win.
Weemer reached double-double status with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Osswald and Kallen Hoeft both scored 15 points, while Clark totaled 14 points and four assists. Jacobs dished out nine assists and collected seven rebounds.
The Royals are 2-1 and play Friday at Brebeuf Jesuit.
