Westfield High School senior Will Chambley has earned the Congressional Award Gold Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the United States Congress for youth achievement.
The Award recognizes initiative, service, and personal development in young Americans ages 14 to 24. Fewer than 500 students nationwide earn the Gold Medal each year.
To achieve this honor, Chambley completed 400 hours of voluntary public service, over 200 hours of personal development, over 200 hours of physical fitness, and fulfilled expedition and exploration requirements by planning and executing a family trip to Puerto Rico.
Chambley’s service demonstrates a deep commitment to his community. His volunteer work includes:
- Westfield Welcome events such as the Westfield International Festival, Shamrock Drop, and Touch-a-Truck
- Indy Great Pyrenees Rescue, caring for rescue dogs through walking, brushing, and feeding
- Westfield Aquatics, serving as a volunteer coach for younger swimmers
- Westfield Washington Public Library and Hamilton North Public Library, including summer reading support and teaching a Scratch coding class
- Westfield High School service activities
- Indiana Swimming, working as a meet timer and deck control
In addition to his volunteer achievements, Chambley is a dedicated student-athlete, recognized for his strong analytical skills, maturity, and ability to balance academics, athletics, and service. He is a member of multiple honor societies and was recently named an Indiana CPA Society Scholar. He plans to major in Accounting in college, where he intends to continue both his academic and athletic pursuits.
Chambley’s accomplishment exemplifies the Congressional Award’s mission: empowering young people to set challenging goals, develop character, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
His family, teachers, coaches, and the Westfield community congratulate him on this extraordinary achievement.
