Five Hamilton County student-athletes were among the Hoosier Crossroads Conference’s list of fall sports Athletes of the Year.
The local athletes are as follows:
Boys cross country: John Libs, Noblesville
Libs, a senior, placed third at the IHSAA state meet with a time of 15:07.5, the best time of an HCC runner. He also placed second individually at the Shelbyville regional. Libs was a part of the Millers’ HCC, sectional and regional team championships.
“John Libs is Noblesville’s school record holder with a time of 14:58 and our highest finisher at the State Meet (3rd),” said Millers coach Bill Kenley. “He’s earned everything he has won. His legacy as a leader and a model teammate will stay with us. He’s among the greatest of our Band of Brothers.”
Libs will continue his education and running career at Butler University.
Boys tennis: Brady Stump, Hamilton Southeastern
Stump, a junior, won the HCC singles title this fall and led Southeastern to sectional, regional and semi-state championships.
“Brady’s talent, determination, leadership and relentless work ethic, whether in practice or competition, set the standard for excellence and inspires everyone around him to give their best,” said Royals coach Doug Gernert.
Girls cross country: Alivia Lozier, Westfield
The junior Lozier repeats as Athlete of the Year after winning the HCC individual championship and leading the Shamrocks to a team championship. Lozier placed second at the Noblesville sectional, third at the Shelbyville regional and 19th at the IHSAA state meet, receiving All-State honors.
“Alivia had a fantastic season, winning the HCC individual Championship and earning first team All State,” said Westfield coach Scott Lidskin, the HCC Coach of the Year. “She is an incredible student-athlete. She meticulously takes care of little details and brings an amazing positive attitude to practice every day. She is respected by her teammates, loves to compete, and she is willing to train at the highest level in order to be among Indiana’s elite runners. Most importantly, she is a great person!”
Girls soccer: Sloane May, Hamilton Southeastern
May, a senior, led the Royals to their first IHSAA state championship in girls soccer. Southeastern also won the HCC championship and finished the season 22-0-1.
“Sloane led the team in both goals and assists,” said Royals coach Greg Davidson. “She is a talent that the Royals have counted on the past four years. She scored a goal and assist, or had the game winner in 5 of the 7 conference games this year.”
May will continue her education and soccer career at the University of Michigan.
Girls volleyball: Madison Miles, Hamilton Southeastern
Miles was a four-year letter winner who played on four HCC championship teams and two IHSAA state championship teams. The Royals went 7-0 in HCC play and finished the season 29-4.
“Madi is an incredible talent and has been a player we have counted on and come through for us in many situations,” said HSE coach Jason Young.
Miles has committed to University of Illinois to continue her education and volleyball career.
