Hamilton Heights Elementary School just wrapped up another successful food drive, and this year, the spirit of giving came with a playful twist.
Thanks to the leadership of the K-Kids Club and a friendly rivalry between two fourth-grade students, the drive brought in hundreds of items to support Angels’ Attic and the school’s Food Backpack Program.
It all started in first grade, when Cooper Clemens decided to turn generosity into a personal mission. Each year, he rallies family and friends to donate funds, then heads out to shop for as many food items as possible. In third grade, Evelyn Robison joined the race, creating a spirited competition that’s all about helping others.

From sorting donations to unloading at Angels’ Attic, Hamilton Heights Elementary students showed what it means to lead with heart. Cooper Clemens and Evelyn Robinson’s friendly rivalry added extra fun – and hundreds of items – to a cause that feeds hope. This year, Cooper raised $362 and purchased approximately 550 items, earning his class the top spot for the fourth year in a row.
The school-wide food drive also featured a grade-level competition, with students across Hamilton Heights Elementary contributing to the cause. Once donations were collected, the K-Kids Club sorted the items during their meeting, and club officers delivered the goods to Angels’ Attic – giving students a firsthand look at how food banks operate and how their efforts make a real difference.

“This is what leadership looks like,” K-Kids Advisor Tracy Zachary said. “It’s kids using creativity, compassion, and a little friendly competition to support their community.”
Hamilton Heights Elementary is proud to celebrate these young changemakers and the entire student body for their commitment to service. Whether it’s sorting cans, shopping with purpose, or unloading boxes at Angel’s Attic, these Huskies are proving that small hands can make a big impact.
