The Noblesville and Fishers boys wrestling teams opened their season by facing off against each other Wednesday at the Tiger Den.
The Millers’ middle-to-upper weights shined in the dual meet, as Noblesville won seven consecutive matches and eventually beat Fishers 52-23. The Millers picked up five pins and two technical falls during the meet.
The Tigers led 12-3 after Seth Lamb (at 120 pounds) and Goyito Mireles (at 132) won with falls. Noblesville’s Brody Weimer got an 8-7 decision victory in between.
After that, the Millers blasted off with seven wins to take a 40-12 lead in the meet. Luke Chastain, Kyle Howard and Yan Tioua all won by pin, with Isaac Suddarth and Aidan Kincaide easily getting technical falls. Justus Suddarth claimed the 138-pound match with a 9-2 decision, while Evan Nicholls won at 175 by injury default.
Julian Burgett stopped the Noblesville streak with a technical fall win at 215 pounds. The next three matches were all decided by fall, starting with Fishers’ Ryan Dungee at 285. Noblesville’s Henry Antrobus and Eli Kincaide won by pin at 106 and 113 respectively.
Both teams are in action at tournaments this weekend. The Tigers travel to Arsenal Tech for the John Hurrle Invitational, while Noblesville heads to Hamilton Heights for the Huskies’ Super 6 event.
