Hamilton Heights senior Waverly Woolever has officially signed her letter of intent to join the Bowling Green State University (BGSU) Women’s Track and Field team in Bowling Green, Ohio. BGSU is a Division I NCAA institution and a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). She is the daughter of Ryan and Andrea Woolever.
BGSU checked all the boxes for Woolever to continue her education and compete at the collegiate level. “Going to a D1 institution has always been a dream of mine,” said Waverly Woolever, who plans to major in marketing and sales, minor in entrepreneurship, and ultimately build her own real estate agency after college.
Woolever, who has been passionate about track and field since the age of 5, credits her dad as being the greatest influence in her development as a student-athlete. A former member of the Hamilton Heights Cheer Squad, Cross Country and Basketball teams, she found her greatest success in track and field. She holds school records in high jump, 4×100 relay, and 4×400 relay, and is a two-time sectional, county, and conference high jump champion.
This summer, Woolever became a back-to-back All-State podium honoree at the IHSAA Girls Track and Field State Championships, breaking her own school record. Just a week later, she cleared 5 feet, 8 inches at the Midwest Meet of Champions All-Star Meet, earning second place and setting another personal best.
“I have had the privilege of coaching Waverly since the seventh grade as her middle school head coach, and now her high school coach,” said Sierra Fultz, HHHS Assistant Girls Track and Field Coach. “From records to podiums, she brings a wonderful energy onto the track from her personality to jumping over the bar. She is ready for the next challenge at any moment. Waverly will be bringing great jumps to Bowling Green State University. We wish you the greatest of luck and remember to make memories along the way.”
“Waverly has worked extremely hard to be a successful high jumper and track athlete at Hamilton Heights,” said, Kurt Ogden, Athletic Director, Hamilton Heights High School. “Her efforts have paid off as she is now the HHHS record-holder in the high jump at 5’7.5” and looks to make her third trip in a row to the state finals this year. We wish her well with her next journey at Bowling Green State University.”
