The City of Tipton announced Friday, Nov. 14 that the IU Health Tipton Medical Staff has generously committed $100,000 to the Tipton Baseball Project, marking a major contribution toward the city’s ongoing $1 million capital campaign to support the construction of a new community baseball complex.
The donation reflects IU Health’s continued commitment to the health, wellness, and vitality of the Tipton community – values that align directly with the vision behind the new facility.
“The medical staff at IU Health Tipton have been committed to this effort from the very beginning even before a formal plan was in place,” Mayor Kegan Schmicker said. “Their generous financial commitment is a powerful reflection of their dedication to building a healthier Tipton and investing in the future of our youth. We are deeply grateful for their continued partnership and unwavering support.”
Launched earlier this fall, the city’s capital campaign aims to raise $1 million in community support to complement the city’s $2 million investment in the project through a recently approved bond. The additional funds will directly support upgraded amenities, enhanced construction materials, and improvements that will elevate the complex into a first-class community destination.
“The medical staff here at IU Health Tipton have long promoted physical activity to maintain and improve health,” said Dr. Addison Haynes, President of the IU Health Tipton Medical Staff. “The benefits of youth sports in promoting teamwork and physical wellbeing in children have also been established. Supporting this project was a natural fit for an organization that is committed to the health of our community. We hope that the baseball fields will be a gathering place for kids and their parents for many years, helping to foster community and health.”
The Tipton Baseball Complex will include:
- A 350-foot Babe Ruth Diamond
- A 200-foot Cal Ripken Diamond
- A dedicated Pee Wee Diamond
- Concession and restroom facilities
- Spectator seating and public amenities
The IU Health Tipton contribution adds meaningful momentum to the campaign and serves as a powerful example of how local organizations can help shape the future of Tipton. Through collective support from partners like IU Health, the city is working to create a destination that strengthens community pride, promotes wellness, and brings people together for generations to come.
“This campaign is about more than fields and fences,” Mayor Schmicker added. “It’s about giving our kids a place to grow, our families a place to gather, and our community a place to take pride in.”
Residents, businesses, and baseball fans are invited to join the effort through the city’s Home Field Advantage campaign. Naming opportunities, sponsorship packages, and individual giving options are available at LoveTipton.com.
