This was the moment after the last coin toss when a winner was declared for heads and tails. While Chuck Goodrich was the last man standing in this game, NYAP won big thanks to his heart for service. (Reporter photo)

Noblesville Youth Assistance Program’s (NYAP) wild west-themed Haybale Ball fundraiser was held on Friday, Nov. 7 at the Milltop Banquet & Conference Center, 802 Mulberry St., Noblesville. Thanks to the generosity of many sponsors and guests, the event brought in a total of $95,000.
A huge contributor to that number was Gaylor Electric President and CEO Chuck Goodrich, who was not only the title sponsor, but turned the “heads or tails” game into yet another opportunity to give back.
Guests bought strands of beads for $10 to play “heads or tails.” Everyone puts their hands on their head of their … uh … tail before a coin toss. Depending on whether the coin lands on heads or tails, you either advance a round or have to remove a strand of beads. When you run out of beads, you’re out of the game.
Before heads or tails began, Goodrich, already decked out in more gold beads than Mr. T in any given episode of The A-Team in the 1980s, told everyone playing that he’d offer $100 per strand of gold beads he had left at the end of the game to NYAP. There were beads in various colors, but Goodrich bet on gold.
He was quickly adorned with nearly every gold string of beads at the Milltop.
Needless to say, he, and thus NYAP, won the night.
Goodrich was one mohawk and one “I pity the fool” away from bringing Mr. T to Noblesville’s version of the Old West.
