The Westfield volleyball team saw its season come to an end Saturday, Nov. 1 with a hard-fought, five-set loss to Fort Wayne Carroll in the semifinals of the Class 4A north semi-state at Rochester.
The top-ranked Chargers edged out the No. 2 Shamrocks 23-25, 26-24, 25-17, 20-25, 15-8. Carroll beat Crown Point in four sets for the championship and plays Plainfield this Saturday for the 4A state title.
Senior Georgia Bresnahan hit 17 kills for the Rocks, followed by junior Paige Rudolph with 12 and Carsyn Comer with 10. Junior Kendyl Strack hit four aces. Junior Emily Blevins dished out 29 assists, while junior Kenna Robinson handed out 24 assists.
Strack made 19 digs on defense, with sophomore Brooke Neale collecting 11 digs. Bresnahan made three total blocks.
Westfield finished its season with a 26-2 record, including sectional and regional titles.

Hamilton Heights was swept by Bishop Dwenger in the semifinals of the Class 3A semi-state at Huntington North.
The set scores were 25-19, 25-15, 25-19. The Saints beat NorthWood in four sets to win the championship and will play No. 1 Roncalli for the 3A state championship.
Senior Macie Smith hit 13 kills for the No. 9 Huskies. Senior Sierra Bramel handed out 13 assists, with junior Reece Blanton providing 11 assists.
Junior Addie Doak had 17 digs, followed by eight for Smith.
Heights finished its season 23-9, also winning sectional and regional championships.
