Have you ever wanted to name a snowplow? Now’s your chance!
The City of Westfield is collecting submissions for its first “Name a Snowplow” contest. Residents of all ages are encouraged to submit their punniest, most creative, most snow-tastic ideas for a snowplow name.
City staff will select their top five from the submissions, and the community will vote for their favorite.
Contest guidelines
- Winning participant(s) must be Westfield or Washington Township resident(s).
- Please limit submissions to 40 characters or less.
- Up to four submissions per person.
- Submissions that include profanity or other inappropriate language will not be considered.
- Politically inspired names (including phrases, slogans, or plays on politicians’ names) will not be considered.
- The snowplow name can’t include your own name.
- Names or words protected by copyright or trademark will not be considered.
- If multiple people submit the same name, the first person to submit it will be credited.
- City of Westfield employees and family members are excluded from participating in the contest.
- By submitting your entry, you agree to allow the City of Westfield to use your submitted entry in a public and official capacity.
- Name(s) of the winning participant(s) will be shared in a news release, on the city’s website, e-newsletter, printed newsletter, social media, and other communications channels.
- If your snowplow name is selected as the winner, you will be notified by phone or email.
- City staff reserves the right to make adjustments to name submissions.
Contest timeline
- Monday, Oct. 27 and Tuesday, Oct. 28: Public Works and Communications staff narrow down submissions to their top five favorites.
- Wednesday, Oct. 29 through Tuesday, Nov. 4: Public voting takes place to choose the best of the top five.
- Wednesday, Nov. 5: Winner notified
- Mid-November: The winning snowplow name will be revealed on the City of Westfield Facebook page and in the weekly e-newsletter.
