Westfield scored a comeback win over Fishers on Friday, Oct. 10, scoring two fourth-quarter touchdowns to beat the Tigers 14-7 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at Riverview Health Stadium.
Neither team scored in the first half. The Tigers scored their touchdown in the third quarter: Gage Sturgill threw a three-yard pass to Tyler Maynard. Micah Hillen made the extra-point kick.
The Shamrocks got on the board early in the fourth quarter on a 35-yard TD throw from Cooper Melvin to Andrew Noble. Westfield took the lead minutes later when Isaac Weingart made an interception and took it 44 yards to score. The Rocks went for two, and Aiden Grabowski threw to Tyson Gilbert, who threw it back to Grabowski for a two-point pass.
Westfield’s Melvin completed nine of 16 passes for 140 yards, while Fishers’ Sturgill was 9-of-19, totaling 102 yards.
The Shamrocks are 5-1 in HCC play and 6-2 overall and play this Friday at Franklin Central to finish the regular-season. The Tigers are 4-2 in the conference and 5-3 overall; they host Zionsville this Friday in their regular-season finale.
