Hamilton Heights scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to pull away from Tipton on Friday, Oct. 10, winning The Hammer rivalry game 26-13.
Both teams scored their first touchdowns in the second quarter. The Huskies got on the board when AJ Flannagan ran the ball in from 37 yards.
The Blue Devils led 7-6 at halftime, then went up 13-6 on a long touchdown run. Later, Drew Woodruff took a two-yard TD run in the middle of the third quarter and Keegan Kavanaugh’s extra-point kick tied the game at 13-13.
Heights took the lead for good early in the fourth quarter when Woodruff found Cam Fleming for a 27-yard touchdown pass. Kavanaugh followed that with another extra-point kick. Nick Bichey stepped up midway through the fourth, taking an interception 52 yards into the end zone.
Woodruff threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns, with Fleming making four receptions. Flannagan carried the ball 23 times for 123 yards.
The Huskies are 4-4 and play at West Lafayette this Friday to finish Hoosier Conference Big School and regular-season play.
