Millers, Hounds, Royals, Rocks, GC’s Scott advance to state

The Noblesville girls golf team successfully defended its Lapel regional crown on Saturday, Sept. 27.

The Millers won at Edgewood Golf and Country Club with a consistent effort – all five Noblesville players scored in the 70s. The result was a team total of 298 and a 15th regional championship, and just an important, a ticket to the IHSAA state finals, which takes place this weekend at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.
Olivia Fowler led the Millers with a score of 72, placing her second individually. Presley White was next in line with 73, making her part of a three-way tie for third place. Josie Kelley added 75, Lauren Turpin scored 76 and Peyton Kauzlick totaled 77.
Noblesville is now tied for second with Carmel in regional championships, as both schools have 15. Martinsville is the leader with 21. The Millers are also making their 32nd appearance at state (second only to Carmel) and their seventh in a row.
Hamilton Southeastern placed second as a team with 304. The Royals scored 304 and also advanced to the state finals. Lapel took the third and final team-qualifying spot with 325, the Bulldogs will be making their second appearance at state.
Sophie Roberts not only led Southeastern, but she led the entire field. Roberts cruised to individual medalist honors with a score of 68, four strokes ahead of second place. Janelle Garcia totaled 74 for the Royals, who qualified for state for the 21st time and sixth consecutive year.
Hamilton Heights’ Taylor Morrison played as an individual and finished with 79.

Battle Ground Golf Club hosted the Lafayette Jefferson regional, where two county teams and one individual qualified for state.

In addition to leading her team to Prairie View, Carmel’s Maya Fujisawa Keuling won medalist honors. Fujisawa Keuling totaled a five under par 67 for her first-ever regional. The freshman made six birdies, including back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th holes to help her pull away.
The Greyhounds finished second as a team with a score of 306, taking one of the three team qualifying spots for the state meet. Zionsville, the defending state champion, won the team regional title with 298.
Karis Reid scored 74 for Carmel, making one birdie. Allie Thompson also made one birdie during her round. The Greyhounds qualified for a state record 34th time and for the 10th consecutive year.
Westfield placed third to punch the remaining ticket to state. Kelsey Haverluck scored 72 to finish fourth individually; she drained two birdies. Sophie Raines and Farrah Camp each made one birdie during their rounds of 79. Lilley Ku and Laila Abriani both made one birdie.
The Shamrocks will advance to state for the sixth consecutive year and 11th overall.
Guerin Catholic placed fifth as a team with 335. The Golden Eagles’ Ali Scott finished with 75, earning her one of the three individual advancing spots. Scott had three birdies.
Sydney Delagrange and Reagan Kaercher both made one birdie for Guerin Catholic.
