On Thursday, Sept. 25, the Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville (BCGN) held its annual “Top of the Club” donor appreciation party at the Boiler Ranch in Noblesville. The Reporter was grateful both for the invitation and for the opportunity to speak with BGCN alumna & former Youth of the Year Taylor Spice moments before her public comments.
Spice told The Reporter her involvement with BCGN began at the age of 11 when she was in fourth grade.
“I loved all the kids, the supportive staff, and the dependable environment,” Spice said. “I knew what I was walking into, and then I got to choose where I wanted to go that day, who I wanted to be with, and all the different programs and areas.”

Spice, who graduated from Indiana University at Indianapolis in May and is currently a NICU nurse at Riley Hospital, told The Reporter she just wanted to give back to BCGN after it had given her so much.
“I’m really grateful and honored they thought of me to speak tonight, and I’m glad I can show success because the club really poured in so much to me when I was a club kid,” Spice said. “When I was working in my high school years, really formative years, they really built me up and kind of made me more confident in who I was, which really helped me.”
While Spice was a BCGN member in elementary school, she was an employee in high school, as well as being named BCGN Youth of the Year in 2018. The national program recognizes teens for outstanding contributions to a member’s family, school, community, and Club, as well as personal challenges and obstacles overcome.
“When I got to work there, I got to really learn what it meant to be independent and to give back,” Spice said. “It became different being someone who was in the staff role versus just getting to experience the fun. I also got to be the Youth of the Year, and that helped me share my story and really grow in leadership and communication skills.”
