WESTFIELD – The Westfield Shamrocks added another win to their undefeated season against the Noblesville Millers Wednesday by the score of 3-0.
The Shamrocks began the match with a determined mindset, knowing they were up against a tough opponent. Westfield’s energy was evident from the opening whistle, setting the tone with an aggressive offensive start that quickly paid off.
“They were excited to play somebody that has always been a tough challenge for us, and to come out early and score within the first minute was a big thing for us to take control from the beginning,” said Westfield’s head coach, Rachel Fulkerson.
The Shamrocks’ early energy, fueled by the excitement of Tatum Hauser’s goal shortly after kickoff, ignited the entire team. As the first half wore on, their dominance only intensified. Midway through, Avery Van Den Berg found the back of the net, and just minutes later, Hailey McDaniel added another, giving Westfield a commanding 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
“This was a team win, we used everybody on our bench which was exciting. Things are starting to click and come together,” said Fulkerson.
Coming out of halftime, the Millers regrouped and showed promising focus. With improved passing, they began to generate momentum, bringing a noticeable energy to the field as they hoped to shift the tone of the game.
“I would like us to give a little more effort to start a soccer game,” said Noblesville’s head coach, Mitch Holden. “I’m happy with the second half, we gave a little more effort.”
The Millers worked the ball up the field and fired many strong shots on goal, but nothing could get past the Shamrocks goalie, Leah Hunsucker. Despite their strong effort throughout the game, the Millers were ultimately unable to find the back of the net.
“We definitely have a team that can compete and play high level soccer, but again it’s the effort that matters to me right now,” said Holden.
The Noblesville Millers play next at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Harrison. The Westfield Shamrocks play again at 7 p.m. tonight at North Central.
