Tipton County Commissioner Tracey Powell has officially announced his candidacy for the Indiana State Senate in District 21. A lifelong Hoosier, chiropractor, farmer, and small business owner, he brings a wealth of local government experience and a strong commitment to serving the people of Indiana.
Since 2020, Powell has served as a Tipton County Commissioner, where he has been a steadfast advocate for responsible development and the economic success of his community. He has also been active in the Indiana County Commissioners Association, serving as Vice Chair and Chair of his region before being elected to the executive board as Treasurer.
Through this work, Powell represented counties at the Indiana Statehouse during legislative sessions, gaining firsthand knowledge of how state policy affects local government. His leadership also extends beyond county lines as Vice President of the North Central Indiana Regional Planning Council, where he has championed infrastructure improvements to strengthen the entire region.
“State government needs leaders who understand the challenges faced by our local communities,” Powell said. “As someone who has lived and worked in rural Indiana my entire life, I know firsthand what it takes to build strong families, support local businesses, and preserve the values that make our state great. I’m running for State Senate to give our communities a stronger voice at the Statehouse.”
Powell’s candidacy is rooted in his belief that effective state policy must reflect the perspective of local government. His background as a county commissioner, combined with his experience as a chiropractor, farmer, and business owner, provides him with a unique understanding of the everyday challenges faced by Hoosiers.
As a husband, father, and community advocate, Powell is dedicated to building a brighter future for Indiana families. His campaign will focus on cutting taxes, improving schools, and delivering affordable health care solutions that keep Hoosiers and businesses strong
