Who was the most successful Hamilton County wrestling team at the Saturday, Feb. 7 North Montgomery regional? Take your pick.

Three local teams were involved in a three-way tie for second place at the regional. Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern and Westfield all scored 108.5 points. The three teams were chasing Zionsville, who won the regional championship with 135 points.
All three schools had seven wrestlers finish in the top four of their weight classes, which qualifies them for the Saturday, Feb. 14 semi-state at New Castle.
The Tigers get bragging rights with the most county champions at the regional. Seth Lamb started things off for Fishers with a victory at 120 pounds. Lamb won his first match with a technical fall, got a major decision in the semifinal, then beat Westfield’s Aiden Driscoll in the championship with a 17-1 technical fall.
Camden Funk opened his 190-pound campaign with a tech fall, then won a 17-12 decision over Western Boone’s Jacob Smith. Funk won the title with a 20-2 technical fall against the Shamrocks’ Jon Stryker.

Julian Burgett was next in line as the 215-pound champion. Burgett also won his first match by tech fall, picked up a major decision in the semis, then beat Carmel’s Will Massey by a 15-2 major decision.
The Royals picked up two champions at the regional. Parker Culp won at 138 pounds. He started with a first-match pin, then took his next two matches by decision, edging out North Vermillion’s Aden Rangel 5-4 in the final.
Cohen Davis triumphed at 165 pounds. He won his first two matches by fall, then got past Crawfordsville’s Aiden Hutchinson with a 4-1 sudden victory after the match was tied after the regulation six minutes.
Westfield’s Connor Maddox was the Shamrocks’ lone winner. The 106-pound sophomore ran through his matches, winning all by first-period pins. Maddox spent a total of 2 minutes, 19 seconds on the mat to win the regional title, pinning HSE’s Nolan Culp in the title match to improve to 26-0 for the season.
Carmel finished fifth as a team with 77 points and also qualified seven wrestlers for the New Castle semi-state. Tyler Elliott (144) and Massey (215) had the best finishes for the Greyhounds, as they were both runners-up in their respective divisions.
