Guerin Catholic was out for revenge on fellow Circle City Conference for Brebeuf Jesuit. They knew it was going to be a battle for the ages.
The two played to a low-scoring game (37-34) on Jan. 23 that also went to overtime at Brebeuf. The Braves got the best of the Golden Eagles in the extra frame for the second time in 11 days with a first-round win at Lebanon over Guerin, 61-52.
Brebeuf led 16-12 after one, but the second belonged to Guerin, scoring 14 to the Braves’ 11 and trailed just 27-26 at halftime.
The third was knotted 14-14, putting the Braves up 41-40 through three.
The Golden Eagles had an 11-10 advantage in the fourth, tying it 51-51 to force overtime.
Guerin was held to one point in overtime and their first winning season in four years came to a screeching halt.
Cecilia Titus had a team-high 19 points and was joined in double-digits by Ella Horvath with 10. Caroline Ford chipped in with seven, senior Dana Dues scored six in her final game, along with Lorigrace Rockwood matching. Lauren Keller added four.
Dues is the lone senior, so Guerin Catholic (15-9) will stay loaded for 2026-27.
