For the second time this season the Fishers Tigers crossed the state line to compete. For the second time, the unbeaten Tigers came back home with a W.
On Saturday, Jan. 17, the nationally-ranked Tigers played in Dayton, Ohio during the 23rd annual Flyin’ to the Hoop showcase and defeated Ohio’s Centerville Elks, 55-43.
The top-ranked Class 4A Tigers wasted little time against the Elks (9-5), leading 12-3 after the first quarter and 30-14 by halftime.
The Elks charged back 29-25 in the second half, but the Tigers’ early advantage proved too much to overcome.
Junior Cooper Zachary led the way for Fishers (14-0) with a team-high 13 points, shooting 5 of 6 from the free-throw line.
Junior Levi Walker and senior Torey Breland each provided nine points apiece. Senior Jean-Claude L’Homme had eight points. Seniors Kai McGrew and Ethan Hillsman chipped in six points each.
Centerville junior Ty Rohrer finished with a game-high 18 points. Junior Trey Sam followed with 12 points, including three 3-pointers.
Earlier this season, the Tigers traveled to the Highland Shootout in Illinois on Jan. 10, and defeated St. Louis Cardinal Ritter College Prep, 61-37.
