The Sheridan basketball teams swept a Hoosier Heartland Conference doubleheader Friday, Jan. 9 at Tri-Central.
In the girls game, the Blackhawks won a defensive game 31-23. Sheridan blasted through the first quarter for a 15-7 lead. Sadie Timme scored eight points, while Brielle Garner made two 3-pointers for six points.
The Hawks stayed ahead in the second quarter and led 23-16 at halftime. The third period was the most defensive of all: the only points were scored by Sheridan’s Lucy Marquis on a two-point basket. As a result, the Blackhawks led 25-16 going into the fourth and stayed in front the entire time.
Garner scored 12 points, including three 3s, while Timme had 11 points. The Sheridan girls are 3-1 in conference play and 8-8 overall, and continue HHC action tonight by hosting Carroll.
Sheridan’s boys took further control of their conference destiny by overwhelming Tri-Central 81-30. The Hawks outscored the Trojans in each quarter, leading 29-9 after the first period and 48-19 at halftime. The Blackhawks ran through the second half 33-11, only allowing Tri-Central two points in the fourth quarter.
Ten different Sheridan players scored, starting with Trey Page. He made six 3-pointers on his way to 20 points. Jax Peerman drained a pair of 3s while scoring 17 points. Desh Donathan added 10 points and Devon Hamilton scored eight points.
The Blackhawks beat Rossville 61-46 in a home conference game on Saturday, Jan. 10. The win keeps Sheridan unbeaten in HHC play at 5-0 while improving its overall record to 8-1.
The Blackhawks play a non-conference game Friday at Lebanon.
