Hamilton Southeastern’s boys gave the No. 2-ranked team in the state all it could handle on Friday, Jan. 2.
The Royals played at Crown Point and kept things close for the first three quarters before the Bulldogs pulled away in the fourth to win 81-70. Southeastern led 18-15 after one period and was ahead 41-39 at halftime.
The Royals were still in front after three quarters, leading 61-57. But Crown Point pulled away in the fourth, outscoring Southeastern 24-9.
Luke Weemer scored 19 points for the Royals, followed by Varschon Clark with 18 points and Landon Osswald with 17 points. Southeastern outrebounded the Bulldogs 36-24; Osswald collected eight rebounds, followed by Clark with seven. Jack Jacobs and Weemer both had five rebounds.
Maverick Young dished out five assists.
The Royals are 3-6 and host North Central tonight.
