Friday, Jan. 9, the Miller boys basketball team paid a visit to historic Bill Green Arena at Marion. The Giants are one of the most successful teams in state history with eight state championships.
The Millers were able to escape Marion with a narrow 46-43 victory.
Noblesville led 17-15 at the end of the first, but Marion came charging back in the second with a 13-6 second to take a 28-23 halftime lead on their home court.
They were without the services of Valparaiso commit Justin Curry II for the second consecutive game, so it would be up to Butler signee Baron Walker to lead the way.
The Giants narrowly took the third quarter 8-7 for a 36-30 advantage.
The fourth belonged to the Millers. They were able to hold Marion to just seven points in the final frame while scoring 16 to edge the Giants by a three-point margin.
Walker led all scorers with a game-high 24 points on 10-for-18 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Max Flanagan scored eight and Evan Magsamen seven.
Noblesville (7-5, 1-1 HCC) gets back to Hoosier Crossroads Conference action at Zionsville (6-6, 2-0 HCC) on Friday in the second game of the girls-boys doubleheader.
