Last night’s Hoosier Conference road game for the Hamilton Heights was a big one. It helped the Huskies stay undefeated in league play atop the East.
The Huskies had their feet on the gas pedal and didn’t let up en route to a 52-34 win.
Heights jumped out to a commanding 20-3 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
The pace slowed a little in the second, still doubling up the host Red Devils, giving the Huskies a 30-8 halftime lead.
West Lafayette woke up offensively in the second half. They outscored Heights 12-11 in the third and 14-11 in the fourth. Their second half effort wouldn’t be near enough to come back and Hamilton Heights wound up victorious for the 12th time this season.
The win gives Heights a full-game lead at 2-0 in the East Division over Western (1-0).
The Huskies (12-3) have won 10 of their last 11 and visit IBCA No. 18 Westfield (15-5) in an all-county showdown tonight.
Riley Suarez led Heights with 26 points on 10 of 17 shooting. Suarez also grabbed eight rebounds before fouling out. Addison Blum added 10, Kamryn Rhoton seven and Bayleigh Eisele had six assists.
