The real-time crime information center has expanded, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Officials say the center serves as a centralized hub for real-time crime data, video surveillance, and coordination between agencies across the county. The expansion includes a drone program for first responders, which allows drones to launch automatically and respond to emergencies in under 90 seconds.
Brian Niec is director of the Hamilton County Real Time Information Center, located in the sheriff’s office facilities off Cumberland Road north of State Roads 32 and 38 in Noblesville. The center opened in November 2024.
“When that emergency gets reported, to the point in time where the patrol responds, there’s a gap of 5 to 10 minutes of nothing, of no information, of no intelligence, no technology. That’s where we help fill that gap. We are doing research on the suspect. We are doing research on vehicles involved. We are doing research on that address or that place to try and feed that information to responding officers and making them more aware of what’s going on.”
Officials say the technology has already helped solve cases and improve public safety.
