Guerin Catholic was down by double digits at Brebeuf Jesuit on Friday, Jan. 23, but the Golden Eagles stormed back to win 48-39 in a Circle City Conference game.
Guerin Catholic led 13-12 after the first period, but the Braves dominated the second quarter and led 26-17 at halftime. Brebeuf went up 29-17 early in the third quarter before GC began its comeback. Guerin Catholic cut the Braves’ lead to 33-30 by the end of the third and outscored Brebeuf 18-6 in the fourth quarter.
Jake Grissom scored 21 points and pulled eight rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles. Carter Murans added 11 points, while both he and Hayden Rogers collected five rebounds. Andrew Reithman also pulled eight rebounds.
Guerin Catholic is 2-0 in conference play; it hosts Roncalli on Feb. 19 to finish Circle City action. GC is 11-5 overall.
The Golden Eagles’ Tuesday game at Scecina was postponed due to the winter storm. Guerin Catholic’s next scheduled game is Friday, Jan. 30 at Lebanon.
