Carmel’s boys kept their unbeaten season going on Saturday, Jan. 10 with a 75-69 win over county rival Westfield at the Shamrocks’ CSI Gymnasium.

The Greyhounds led 21-20 after the first quarter, making five 3-pointers. Cash Daniels and Jamichael Fountain both drained two triples during that period. Westfield’s Drew Haffner scored 10 points in the first, including a pair of 3s.
Carmel moved ahead in the second quarter to lead 42-35 at halftime. Adler Cole made two 3s during the period, while Daniels scored another five points.
Both teams added 16 points in the third period, so the Hounds led 58-51 going into the fourth. Evan Harrell scored eight points in the third. Haffner added nine points for the Shamrocks.
The game was a battle to the end, with Haffner pouring in 13 points in the fourth quarter, including a 5-of-5 effort from the free-throw line. Daniels scored 10 points in the fourth, throwing in two more 3-pointers.
Daniels finished the game with 26 points, six assists and four rebounds, making five 3s along the way. Harrell reached double-double status with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Fountain scored 11 points and collected four rebounds.
Haffner led all scorers with 33 points, draining four 3s and finishing 13 of 15 from the free-throw line. Brock Detamore and Ryan Hunsucker both scored 13 points, with Detamore pulling seven rebounds.
Carmel is 9-0 and hosts Plainfield on Friday.
On Friday, Jan. 9, Westfield won 72-44 at Yorktown.
The Shamrocks outscored the Tigers in each quarter, leading 33-24 at halftime. Westfield ran through the third period 20-5 to take further control of the game.
Four Rocks players reached double-digit scoring; Haffner and Luke Vandegriff shared leader honors with 12 points each. Logan Sumpter and Detamore both had 10 points, while Graham Wilson scored nine.
Westfield is 6-4 and hosts Hamilton Southeastern Friday in a girls-boys Hoosier Crossroads Conference doubleheader.
