The Carmel Fire Department will offer a free educational program later this month called Ignite Safety, a home safety essentials and maintenance class held in the Stay Alive Family Education (S.A.F.E.) House, located at 210 Veterans Way, Carmel.
The class will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29.
This informative, hour-long class is designed specifically to help new homeowners – and anyone looking to strengthen their home safety knowledge – learn how to properly care for household appliances and understand routine home maintenance schedules.
Participants will gain practical, easy-to-follow guidance on maintaining common home systems and appliances, helping to extend their lifespan while reducing the risk of breakdowns, safety hazards, and costly repairs. By learning proper maintenance techniques, homeowners can save time, money, and unnecessary stress while creating a safer living environment for their families.
Ignite Safety is open to the public at no cost and is offered six times throughout the year, making it easy for community members to attend at a time that works best for them. You must register for the class. Register for the class at tinyurl.com/IgniteSafetyJan2026.
The S.A.F.E. House is a 3,700 square-foot state-of-the-art learning facility simulating the city of Carmel. It features cutting-edge technology over two floors, with a realistic firetruck and ambulance simulations. These elements create an immersive experience that enhances understanding and retention of fire safety knowledge, with curricula ranging from Kindergarten to the elderly.
In addition to the Ignite Safety class, there are classes for boy and girl scout troops, adulting for young adults moving out for the first time, fall prevention, senior home safety, and many more.
