A northern Hamilton County farm made sure families had another option to ring in 2026, with farm animals.
New Year’s Eve usually means dinner, parties and the ball drop. In Arcadia, families celebrated with yaks at Woolly Yak Ranch & Winery.
“It’s actually a bit of a creative concoction that we came up with. We thought about the kids because we get an awful lot of kids that come out here,” said owner Christopher Lammer.

Lammer and his wife invited families out for this sold-out event to ring in New Year’s Eve at noon Wednesday.
One visitor, Evan Maxfield held his child as he said, “It was something unique, something fun for her since she’ll be asleep by midnight, something for her to experience New Year’s or Noon Year’s.”
Woolly Yak Ranch & Winery is on 25 acres. Another visitor, Emily Bohne, said, “I didn’t know this place existed. So, it’s really cool, really a lot of fun.”
Families enjoyed refreshments, party hat decorating, a balloon drop and animals, of course. Lammer said the yaks “are a cow, but they’re kind of Asia’s version of a cow, and the way that you tell them apart is the woolly skirt that surrounds their undercarriage.”
The Lammers, who host field trips and other educational opportunities, are parents themselves.
“We live in an age nowadays where cell phones and iPads all kind of rule the day, especially for the youngsters and all. So, to get them outside and give them a little space to run around, to give them new things to explore, it’s definitely an educational experience,” Lammer said. “We’ve been very blessed. We’re very fortunate, and we’re happy to have the resources that we have here, and we’re most excited to be able to share it with the community.”
