The Fishers boys held off a tough challenge from host Shortridge on Saturday, Dec. 20 before winning 64-62 to stay unbeaten for the season.
The game was close the entire 32 minutes. The Class 4A No. 1 Tigers led 16-14 after one quarter, with Kai McGrew scoring nine points. Fishers led 38-36 at halftime, with seven different Tigers players scoring. Cooper Zachary had six points.
The Blue Devils were within 50-49 after three periods, but Fishers held on in the fourth quarter. Levi Walker and McGrew both scored four points.
McGrew led the Tigers with 15 points, while Zachary scored 14.
Fishers was missing Jason Gardner Jr., who is out with a hand fracture after getting hurt during the second half of the Tigers’ game with Hamilton Southeastern.
Fishers is 6-0 for the season and plays 2A No. 1 Parke Heritage at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
