Hamilton Heights’ girls ran their winning streak to six on Tuesday with a 52-44 win at Kokomo.
The Huskies led 15-10 after the first quarter, with Riley Suarez scoring 10 points. Things slowed down a little in the second period, but Heights still held a 23-16 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Huskies picked up the pace, scoring 16 points for a 39-26 advantage. Suarez threw in a 3-pointer, her third of the game, to give Heights its largest lead at 36-22. The Wildkats cut into the Huskies’ lead in the fourth quarter, but Heights was able to stay ahead and pick up its first win of the season over a Class 4A team.
Suarez finished with 19 points for the 3A Huskies. Bayleigh Eisele also reached double digits with 14 points, as did Addison Blum with 11 points. Blum led the rebounds with seven followed by Eisele with six.
Heights is 8-2 and hosts Blackford Saturday afternoon.
