On Saturday, Dec. 13, the Carmel community came together in a powerful show of generosity and compassion to support the Carmel Fire Auxiliary’s Community Assistance Program (CAP).
Through this annual effort, volunteers helped deliver a meaningful holiday meal, essential pantry items, and gifts for children to 198 families throughout the Carmel Clay area, ensuring that many neighbors experienced the warmth and joy of the holiday season.
CAP is the longest-running program of the Carmel Fire Auxiliary and the Carmel Fire Department, and it continues to grow in both reach and impact each year. The success of this program is made possible only through the dedication and hard work of countless volunteers who give their time, energy, and hearts to serve others.

A special and heartfelt thank-you goes to CAP Coordinator Jessie Baker, whose organizational skills are the backbone of the program. She truly has her finger on the pulse of the families in need, coordinating family sponsorships, overseeing the collection of gifts, and managing the many moving parts of delivery day. Her attention to detail and commitment ensure that everything runs smoothly and that no family is overlooked.
Significant contributions also come from Boy Scouts Troop 112, who generously spend the Saturday prior to delivery day boxing and organizing food items in preparation for distribution. In addition, dozens of volunteers assist with packing vehicles, sorting donations, and serving as drivers who personally deliver items to nearly 200 families across the community.
Despite the cold, blustery weather, volunteers willingly gave up their Saturday morning to help others. Their willingness to serve reflects the true spirit of the season and highlights how fortunate our community is.
This collective effort is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when people come together with a shared purpose – to care for one another and strengthen the community we all call home.
