The REPORTER
The Noblesville boys wrestling team won a thrilling dual meet over Zionsville Tuesday by the score of 30-29.
Both teams won seven matches during the meet. The Eagles won the opener at 150 pounds by a technical fall, but the Millers took the next four for an 18-5 lead. Kyle Howard got a 11-6 decision at 157, then Aidan Kincaide (at 165) and Evan Nicholls (at 175) picked up pins.
Yan Tioua toughed out a 7-3 decision for the 190-pound match. The Eagles then stormed back to win the next four matches, starting with a tech fall at 215. Zionsville won three more by decision and took a point lead, 19-18.
Blake Weimer came up next and scored a pin at 120 pounds in what turned out to be the meet-clinching bout: the Millers led 24-19 and would not trail again. Brody Weimer picked up a 4-0 decision at 126 to follow his brother.
Zionsville won by tech fall at 132, then Justus Suddarth won a 9-4 decision at 138. Justus’ twin brother Isaac Suddarth had to take on the Eagles’ Cash Mays – the No. 6 wrestler at 144 pounds in the IndianaMat.com rankings – for the final bout. Mays won by technical fall, but that made the difference: by not giving up the outright pin, Isaac Suddarth preserved the Millers’ one-point win.
Noblesville is back in action Saturday at Westfield for the Shamrock Duals. Carmel and Fishers will also be competing.
