The Sheridan basketball teams swept Clinton Prairie in a Hoosier Heartland Conference girls-boys doubleheader Friday, Dec. 5 at the Gophers’ gym.
The Blackhawks pulled away in the second half of the girls game to win 47-30. Sheridan and Prairie were tied at 5-5 after one quarter, then the Hawks pulled ahead 23-22 by halftime. Sheridan’s defense took over in the second half, allowing CP only eight points; the Hawks scored 16 in the third quarter.
Brielle Garner led Sheridan with 14 points, also dishing out five assists. Lucy Marquis totaled 13 points and five rebounds, while Sadie Timme contributed eight points, six rebounds and five assists.
Makenzy Terry scored six points, followed by Horney, Olivia Long and Fausset with two points each.
The Sheridan boys also played a solid second half to beat Prairie 62-47. The Blackhawks led 17-13 after the first quarter, with Devon Hamilton scoring nine points and Trey Page making two 3-pointers. The Gophers came back to lead 33-30 at halftime. But Sheridan outscored CP 33-14 in the second half to get the win.
Hamilton finished with 23 points, scoring in all four quarters. Page drained five 3s on his way to 17 points. Chance Spencer scored 10.
The Sheridan boys host Faith Christian tonight, while the Sheridan girls host Rossville on Thursday to continue conference play.
